The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range (Californians call it the High Sierras) is a 400-mile long range that runs north to south along the eastern part of California. There is an enormous amount of skiing on Lake Tahoe's North and South shores. Most of the ski resorts are less than 2 to 3 hours away.
